SUNDAY 1st SEPTEMBER
Taddington Gardeners are preparing for the annual Taddington Produce Show which will be held on Sunday 1st September at the Bramwell Institute in Taddington. Residents of Taddington, Monyash, Chelmorton and Flagg and their family and friends are all invited to enter any of the categories. There are sections for vegetables, flowers, homemade preserves, cakes and bread, photography, art and handicrafts. And this year there will be an expanded Junior Section – all children at the local schools or children with family in any of the villages are eligible to enter.
The Junior section is for youngsters up to 16 years old and is divided into different age groups. In the other sections, there is a large range of vegetables, produce and flowers to choose from – including eggs and … the wonkiest veg. Jellies, chutneys, pickles, jams, lemon curd and marmalade feature amongst the preserves and, if you want to try your hand at baking, you can have a go at classic tea loaf, a cake containing any vegetable, a Victoria sponge or fruit scones. This year, the much coveted award for the ‘Men’s Baking’ category will go to the baker of the best date and walnut loaf. The three categories for the photography section are ‘a domestic animal’, ‘on the farm’ and ‘on holiday’. The handicraft section features all the classics and also includes scope for a bit of ‘upcycling’.

2019 Taddington Produce Show Junior section
Entries are received at the Institute (towards the bottom of Main St, at the top of Town End) from 9:30 to 11:30 on the Sunday morning. The hall is then open to everybody from 2 – 4. Hot drinks and cakes are served all afternoon and there will be a raffle – the proceeds will be spent on the flowers many of you will be used to seeing around the village. The winners of each section will be announced at about 4 and the raffle drawn. So do join us – all entries and all visitors will be made very welcome.
